The following is a transcript of the speech given by Pastor D.R. McKillop on Remembrance Day, in honor of our Veterans.
Canadians across our great country, and around the world, are gathering at cenotaphs and memorials. They are gathered to pause and reflect in silence as they pay tribute and honor to the men and women who gave selflessly of themselves so that we might enjoy the freedoms we do today. The common ingredient, intention or motive that unites our “nation wide” attendance today, is a concerted effort on each of our parts to NEVER FORGET or take for granted the sacrifice that has brought us to this point in our country’s development.
Today, we have heard the names of men & women called whom I never met; who fought in wars & conflicts around the world that I never witnessed; who willingly surrendered what I have never been asked to give up. You see, the things most worth fighting for, come at a tremendous cost. So, it is the LEAST that we can do, to pause and REMEMBER them today. (more…)
